I always felt though I find it plausible that Zen is not everything. Then is also an important part of everything. Not everything is about the now, as in the "here and how", "living for the moment". While there is magic in the now, there is also magic in the before then. I believe that half of what we consider as everything are about our previous experiences.
And so it is an anticipation of the moment and the memory of the moment; not just the moment. There is a shade of delight and pleasure in anticipation. The delight we feel beforehand expresses the relationship of time, the pleasure or pains of waiting for the moment to arrive, the can't wait feeling elation, or hoping for some thing or someone, some event to happen or person to see.
Whether it's on a small scale like special views of your favorite movie, waiting to see a special person, that one fine piece of music, an art work, or much bigger versions: the fulfillment of dreams or reconciliation of one's feelings and hopes.
I have learned in martial arts and much from Taoism that it is all about those moments, to cherish the second it happens and never mind the continuance of time. But looking back at my wonderful childhood days, I realized somehow: the beauty also lies in the time before, the hope for, the waiting for, the moment within that particular moment, the memory painted in perfection of that instant in time. Looking from the present, in the blink of an eye, it is a memory which really stays with you, the reflection, the remembrance of that time. Cherish the thought, remember what it felt like...
Goes to say, it's alright to spend your life in the eternal bliss. Always have something to hope for, something or someone to wait for. Have your plans and dreams pointed on the horizon and purposely create it. And at the same time, relive your memories, uphold and cherish them, keep them within you as long as you live.
